Review: I have a precious collection of vintage Rotring Isograph and Rapidograph technical pens. I don't use these for draughting now because all my design work is done using TurboCAD but I still cherish these pens which I first used for technical drawing in school in the mid 1980s. I tried soaking the used parts in this solution in a Tupperware container for several months and, yes, some dried ink was removed but I was sceptical that it was any better than soaking in tap water. I tried soaking in neat isopropyl alcohol which I keep around as a general purpose solvent and this was also successful so I would say don't waste your money with this. If your technical pen units are heavily encrusted then you will need to use an ultrasonic bath in any case. Water and/or isopropyl alcohol mixtures will serve the purpose adequately. I have a PhD and BSc in chemistry so was understandably curious about the formulation of this cleaning solution but I could find no information on this on the packaging. Suspicious. Is this just expensive water?
