Description: This medium nib, black Kaweco fountain pen features a 23ct gold-plated, steel nib and iridium tip. Kaweco have been successful in the writing market for decades, with the Kaweco Classic Sport their most popular pen. The Classic Sport closely follows an original 1935 octagonal design - 'Small in the pocket, large in the hand'. The oversized cap arrangement creates a small closed pen but a full length open pen. Closed, the pen is just 105mm long, open 133mm long. The barrel is 14mm in diameter (around the cap). The solid black resin and gold accents make this an eye catching addition to any writing set and it's small size means it can be carried with you at all times. The Classic Sport follows the original 1935 design and features the Kaweco logo in metal on the end of the cap. Kaweco fountain pens use international short ink cartridges. - Pen Size Closed: 105mm - Pen Size Open: 135mm - Brand: Kaweco - Pen Colour: Black - Nib Size: Medium - Country of Manufacture: Germany - Cardboard Display Box and Black Ink Cartridge included. Review: This is a replacement for the same model pen I purchased several years ago. Took a while and a bit of force to remove the spare ink cartridge which was stuck in the pen lid. However, pen working nicely now. Recommended.

Review: I was pretty disappointed with this pen to be honest. I have a lot of fountain pens and thought I'd get another for work and every day use which isn't t too expensive to mix things up. I've heard good things about this brand before so thought why not. It is very light, perhaps too light for me. When the cap is posted its a good size and not too weird to hold despite the shape. Without the cap posted it would be too small and awkward to write with if one has larger hands. Annoyingly, there is a vertical seam down the grip area in line with both sides of the nib from the moulding during manufacture; I tried taking a picture but with the black plastic it was next to impossible to make out-either way, you can feel it and with prolonged use it is just not nice to hold. The really big disappointment is the nib; its scratchy, I've not been able to get a good flow of ink out of it and even if capped when not being used, regardless of if its just for a few minutes, it always needs effort to get flowing. I've tried various inks, including some seriously wet ones and the issue remains. I did get an extra fine nib and often they are a bit scratcher than larger sizes; however I have cheaper EF pens in my collection that are nicer to use and are more reliable. The same applies to the overall quality; I have cheaper pens of various materials that do not have seams on the grip area that make the pen uncomfortable. If I had to pick a positive point for the pen, I'd say its not as boring as some other pens. The design is unusual, the size makes it convenient for carrying and the screw cap removes any fears of the cap coming off in your pocket. It also looks pretty smart too; other people will likely believe its more expensive than it is...unless you let them hold it that is!
