    Description: Italeri 1/35 Scale Schnellboot S-26/S-38 Model Kit Between the two wars several Navies undertook development programs to implement flotillas of motor torpedo boats capable of carrying out patrol and attack missions. The new engine technologies, compared to First World War versions, provided greater performance and operational efficiency. During the 1930s the German Kriegsmarine developed the famous S-class motor torpedo boats. Between 1939 and 1940 the S-26 series was built and characterised by a forecastle integrated with two 533 mm torpedo tubes. The aesthetic features of the bow were maintained and further improved in subsequent versions. The S38 was one of the most celebrated Schnellboot versions, with almost 100 units produced. They were 35 meters long with a full load displacement of over 100 tons. With its Daimler Benz 12-cylinder engines it was able to reach a maximum speed of 39.5 knots. Paints and glue are required to complete this model kit. Not included. Available separately.     Description: 1/35 Vosper 74 Torpedo Boat with Crew On March 28, 1942, a joint operation was undertaken by the Navy and the British Commandos to render the large dry dock of the French port of Saint Nazaire, occupied by the German forces, unusable. The operation was given the code name of Chariot. The port was in fact an important support point for the Kriegsmarine operations in the Atlantic. The operation was conducted by some torpedo destroyers and by a flotilla of motor boats destined to transport the commandos. The operation was successful and the dry dock was damaged and rendered unusable until the end of the war. A decisive role was assigned to the fast light assault vehicles. MTB 74, which participated in the action, it was specially modified by the Royal Navy shipyards by moving the two torpedo launchers in the front position and was equipped with silencers at the exhausts to act unnoticed. His task was in fact to hit the anti-submarine nets and then launch the torpedoes to block the lock. The torpedo boat hit the target but during the return it was hit and sank. It is powered by a normal 16v DC supply (and can take up to 3 amps) and is fully compatible with all PECO turnouts up to O gauge (and can handle many other proprietary brands too). But no longer will any soldering of wires to the terminals be necessary, nor the cutting of large holes in the baseboard. Each motor is supplied with a template, which the modeller uses to accurately mark the position of three holes that need to be drilled. The two outer holes are used to attach mounting studs beneath the baseboard. The larger centre hole is where the drive pin of the motor is positioned and threaded through the tie bar of the turnout. The motor is then simply twisted, and locked, into position and will remain firmly attached when operated.
