Review: Another fantastic lego set - My 7-year-old son spotted this a few months ago and was very pleased when Santa delivered it for Christmas. He found it a very satisfying build with no adult interference required (well I did the labels, that's my designated lego job), the instructions, as usual, are well laid out with no ambiguity and the pieces organized into bags so you don't have to build it all in one day. It is a detailed model with lots of specialised pieces and this makes it a great fun build. Once complete there is a huge amount to play with - the ship with a hoist on the back and storage bay under the bridge, the sunken wreck with a treasure chest and collapsing bridge, a variety of undersea vehicles and plenty sharks and people (divers and sailors), it has held both kids attention now for over 2 weeks. It can go in the water too so baths have suddenly become much more popular. The boat and rib float nicely, pretty much everything else floats but in a less orderly fashion, the propellors on the undersea vehicles spin rapidly when you swoosh then through the water. Don't forget to leave the boat to drain upside down after bathtime adventures - a surprising amount of water ends up inside the floating body. it is well thought out educational and imaginative fun

Review: Wonderful theme - as a keen scuba diver I was delighted when my 8 year old said he wanted this lego! So it would have had 5 stars from me, but the downside is that the kit is too easy to put together. From the pictures it looked like the box had a lot of content, which it does in one sense - but not enough pieces to put together and my son had it all built in a couple of hours. The hull of the main ship is one big pre-formed piece, so I guess that cut down the build time considerably. Lego is coming up with some imaginative themes, but losing its way bit in terms of no longer using the 'classic' pieces in clever ways to achieve the results...
