Description: Cecil Aldin (1870-1935) was a British painter and illustrator, best known for his paintings of dogs and rural life. He illustrated 'Black Beauty' in 1912.nn He did much advertising work and illustrated many posters for brands such as Bovril, Colman's Mustard and Cadbury. Royal Doulton used many Aldin drawings on their ceramics until 1939.nn This set contains Cecil Aldin works in two very different styles.nn The red and black images are from his 1909 book 'The Black Puppy' whilst the pastel paintings are just four years later, from a 1913 book 'Our Friend the Dog'.nn The set contains pyramage, motifs, large pyramage, background panels and backing sheets, all beautifully co-ordinated to enable you to make perfect cards.nn The pyramage pieces can easily be cut out with a craft knife and ruler and stacked using sticky pads or silicone glue to create a fantastic 3-dimensional 'pyramid' shape.nn The pyramage sheets are best printed onto a good-quality white lightweight card (up to 225gsm) so that your completed stack doesn't end up too thick! Thicker card can be used for the motifs, whilst the backgrounds can be printed onto either paper or card. Cecil Aldin (1870 - 1935) was a British artist and illustrator who was known best for his beautiful animal paintings although he also he also produced sports paintings, village and rural scenes. Aldin, Cecil (1870-1935) - A Dog Day 1902 - Listening All but 3 of the images are over 1000px high, with the largest being 3528x 2436. Cecil Aldin (1870-1935) was a British artist and illustrator, best known for his paintings and sketches of animals (especially dogs), sports and rural life. He had his first drawings published in The Building News in 1890 and his work began to appear in many popular journals and magazines. The birth of his son and daughter inspired his nursery pictures which together with his large sets of the Fallowfield Hunt, Bluemarket Races, Harefield Harriers and Cottesbrook Hunt prints brought him much popularity. This was enhanced by his ever expanding book and magazine illustrative work. An exhibition in Paris in 1909 was received with much acclaim and extended his fame to a wider audience. Aldin moved to the Henley area as his interest in hunting, horses and dogs increased and in 1910 he became Master of the South Berkshire Hunt as well as being associated with other local packs. Sadly he lost his son, Dudley at Vimy Ridge in 1917, which affected him deeply for many years and had a profound effect of his style of work. After the war Aldin spent much of his time organising pony and dog shows particularly in Exmoor where he followed the Devon and Somerset Staghounds. In 1930 Cecil Aldin had to go and live in a warmer climate due to serious attacks of arthritis but he continued to paint and etch, producing some of his best work. He died in London of a heart attack in January 1935 on a short trip back home. The disc also includes a comprehensive article about the copyright rules in both the UK and the US and how they affect each other. Not only will you be able to understand the rules that put these pictures into the public domain, but it will also arm you with the knowledge so that you can decide if other pictures can be freely used in the same way.
