Each varnish has a different finished; Gloss dries a resistive brilliant brilliant sheen which deepens colour intensity and works particularly well with metallic and pearlescent colours. Matte dries with a flat finish which mutes colours and can give more pastel look especially when used with lighter colours. Review: This varnish is very good overall. I have used it a few times on top of black acrylic paint. I have discovered it's not not fully transparent if the varnish is applied too heavily in the same coat. I am sure this is my fault and there's not a problem with the varnish. I suggest using two moderate coats of varnish, waiting for the first coat to dry and not to use one heavy coat of varnish.

Review: I bought this as replacement matte varnish as I didn’t have much of my previous bottle of a different make left. I wanted to use it for sealing the hull of a model ship. The consistency was far to thick, like thick cream, and, when it dried, it left a whitish residue in places - horrible results! Luckily I had a little of my old varnish left to complete the job as this bottle is going to be binned although I’ll try using it diluted first to see if that makes a difference.It may be good for some things but it’s not for me I’m afraid.
