Description: Dragon 1:144 Bell X-1 A Diecast Model Airplane - 51038-03 Joining earlier versions of the Bell X-1, Warbirds have announced an excellent 1/144 scale model of the X-1 A in its collection. Because of the fundamental differences between the X-1 and X-1 A, the new model has received a brand new fuselage. In fact, Item No.51038 offers not one, but two, complete models in this set! The two models are different too - one is a realistic-looking replica, while the other has a novel transparent fuselage that allows a clear view of the aircraft's innards. Both aircraft can be mounted together in flying mode on a twin metal stand, a configuration that produces a stunning exhibit.

Brand: Dragon
Description: Dragon 1:144 Bell X-1 Diecast Model Airplane - 51029-03 Warbirds has announced the X-1 E to its 1/144 scale range of collectible aircraft. Dragon has released X-1 models before, but this model depicts the X-1 E on its test flight in December 1955. Furthermore, there isn't just one aircraft, but the set offers two complete models. One is a regular depiction of the X-1 E while the other features Dragon's exciting concept of a transparent fuselage that allows viewing of the experimental plane's internal configuration. The two X-1 Es can sit side by side on the sleek display stand that comes with the set. In this scale these two planes are not large, but they do reveal all about the Bell X-1 E!

Category: Aircraft
Brand: Dragon
Description: Dragon 1:144 Douglas X-3 Diecast Model Airplane - 51028-03 Continuing on with Dragon Warbird's collection of experimental aircraft is a 1/144 scale model of the X-3 jet aircraft. Developed by Douglas Aircraft from 1949 onwards, the sleek X-3 Stiletto was designed for sustained supersonic speeds. The X-3 employed titanium and low-aspect ratio wings, the first prototype was delivered in September 1952, with the first flight occurring the following month. Eventually a total of 51 X-3 flights took place. However, the pair of Westinghouse J34 turbojet engines was not powerful enough so it never actually reached Mach 1 in straight flight! The effort wasn't wasted though, as data obtained from the X-3 was used to produce the F-104 Starfighter. The lone X-3 Stiletto is on display at the National Museum of the US Air Force at Wright- Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio.

The lone X-3 Stiletto is on display at the National Museum of the US Air Force at Wright- Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. This Dragon Warbirds model captures perfectly the sleek lines of this American experimental design. Of note, two complete 1/144 scale models are included in this set. One model is a fully finished and pre-painted replica while the other has transparent exterior parts that reveal some of the craft's insides. The latter model provides aviation enthusiasts with a new appreciation for this futuristic aircraft design. All details are accurately rendered, plus an ' S'-shaped display stand made of metal is included. This allows the exterior and interior of the models to be shown off side by side. This new Warbirds release differs from the previous Item No.51028 in that it has alternative markings. Only one X-3 Stiletto was ever built, but now Warbirds offers you twoin one set!
